Remediation
From the 'Tracks & Natural Borders' Series.
Inspired by borders found in nature that may at one time or another get interfered with; by industry, exploration and/or human growth population.
These earrings speak to the 'Remediation' of abandoned mine sites.
In some past 'Remediation' Projects, after a body of water - either pre existing or created by the mining operation - has been contaminated by mine use, the efforts to remediate include removing chemical waste from the body of water and then treating it so that it will not harm the surrounding environment.
The beads on one of the earrings depict water as it naturally flowed within the natural borders of the lake before being affected by the mining interests.
The beads on the other depict mans efforts to replace or treat the water.
The water will fill up again, but can it ever be the same?
